Other Updates…

…in addition to the assigning bed types to bedrooms feature that was outlined in our last blog post, the team has been hard at work on several initiatives:

  • Version 2.0 of the Lodgix WordPress Plugin.   The video below gives a brief overview of where we are with that. Probably a later September launch.
  • Conversion of the Work Orders system to mobile friendly interfaces.   This should launch by 2nd week of September.
  • Horizontal scrolling on the multi calendar tape.  In final phases of testing.  Possible launch by 2nd week of September.
  • Support for custom cancellation policies on VRBO.   Possible mid September launch.
  • Entirely new REST API.   This feature is much anticipated and will allow Lodgix to feature a completely open architecture.   Beta publication and testing should begin September 4th!

Lots of resources are currently being put towards updating the mobile experience for guests and for Lodgix users, as well as making the application more developer friendly.    It’s a large application with many moving parts, so it’s important that we step back from time to time to assure that the product is adapting with the times.  In light of that, we really hope to spend considerable time in 4Q 2020 implementing a new mobile friendly dashboard, while also updating our invoicing and trigger systems.  Those three systems are in dire need of a refresh!

Lodgix.com New Features – Part I

Dashboard Reservation Widget Icons

Lodgix previously had two methods by which bookings were entered into Lodgix, manually (phone) and online (booking calendars).  However now that we support two-way syncing with AirBnB and also bookings coming in via (new service soon be announced), it becomes more important for an owner or manager to be able to quickly look at the dashboard and determine where a booking originated.

Thus the dashboard reservation widgets now will show icons depicting where the booking originated: airbnb, homeaway, online or manual.

Calendar Tape Filter for HomeAway & Flipkey Listing IDs

Thanks to a timely suggestion from a long-time subscriber, we recently implemented calendar tape filtering for your HomeAway or Flipkey listing IDs.   When you have larger numbers of properties and lots of listings on sites like HomeAway, it’s very common for a prospective guest to call in asking about availability for a particular listing id.

It can be tough to quickly match the listing ID to the corresponding property on Lodgix (especially for someone unfamiliar with your inventory).  To make this super easy we implemented a filter on the calendar tape. Now all that is required is to enter the listing ID in the lower left corner of the calendar tape and the calendar will filter the properties to only display the property that matches up to that ID!

This feature only works if the mappings are property setup within either the calendar sync area of Lodgix or within the inquiry configuration area of Lodgix.

New Dashboard is Coming!

For almost a year now I’ve been promising a new dashboard. Our current dashboard is static and offers the user no ability to customize it to display data that is most important to them. In our current dashboard the layout is comprised of straight tables which does not display well on mobile devices. In our current dashboard there are only six data windows: arrivals tomorrow, departures tomorrow, pending reservations, balances due, refunds due and statistics. Even worse the statistics haven’t worked in five years. :-)

Here is a screenshot of the current dashboard:

New Responsive HTML5 Dashboard

Our new dashboard will be a tool that is very flexible. We will add data from all over the application reservations, inquiries, revenues, total bookings, arrivals by day, week or month, departures by day, week or month, twitter feeds, facebook feeds, social media engagement, website visitors, anywhere we can pull data, we’ll attempt to do it.

Just as important, you can determine what data you want and where you want it. The widgets can be dropped anywhere on the screen. Maybe you want to group your widgets and have tabs for each grouping, you can do that. Maybe you want your employee to only have access to a couple of widgets, you can do that. Maybe your property owners should have a widget or two that only pertain to them, you can do that.

Also the new dashboard is responsive, meaning it will display wonderfully on any size screen or mobile device. We will be recoding our header to be responsive in the next few weeks, so the whole application will take a nice step forward to working well on any size screen or mobile device.

Here is the most recent screenshot of our new dashboard:
